FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 29, 2025
NASHVILLE, TN – Protasec, a Nashville-based cybersecurity firm known for its human-centered approach to cyber resilience, is launching an awareness campaign in honor of World Password Day on Thursday, May 1, 2025. The initiative highlights the critical role strong password practices play in protecting businesses and individuals in today’s increasingly digital-first world.
Protasec’s Founder, Joshua Harr, who serves as Director of A6 Cyber Strategy for the 118th Wing of the Tennessee Air National Guard and Senior Cybersecurity Advisor to the Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria, emphasizes that cybersecurity isn’t just about technology — it’s about people.
Protasec’s leadership team includes Chief Executive Officer and co-owner Jolie Grace Wareham, an expert and seasoned speaker in civic cyber defense and organizational resilience.
Wareham was recently a guest on The Loyal Opposition podcast, where she discussed the real-world impacts of phishing schemes, the importance of password managers, and how small businesses can better protect themselves from cyber threats.
Wareham says that keeping yourself up to date and understanding ways to use your technology safely is important. She is passionate about urging the use of user-friendly security tools including password managers. As she explained on The Loyal Opposition, “A password manager is like a vault of all your passwords that can create random, long and strong passwords that will create them for each of your accounts. All you have to remember is the password into that vault to access passwords from there. Password managers are made with the user in mind.”
Ahead of World Password Day, Protasec encourages organizations and individuals to:
- Review and strengthen their password policies.
- Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Provide cybersecurity awareness training to build an internal “human firewall.”
- Utilize password managers to ensure protections for company and personal use.
Together, Harr and Wareham bring a rare blend of technical expertise, real-world experience, and human-first storytelling to the cybersecurity conversation. As professional trainers and communicators, they specialize in making complex security issues relatable and actionable.
Over the past year, Protasec has expanded its reach through major speaking engagements and international efforts, including:
- Josh’s dynamic keynote at InfoSec 2024, leading a live, choose-your-own-adventure style cyber attack simulation inspired by Dungeons & Dragons.
- Increased global partnerships and advisory roles, including digital diplomacy and international cybersecurity collaborations.
- Deeper engagement with venture capital networks, the nonprofit sector, and women-in-cybersecurity organizations.
Protasec works with small to mid-sized businesses as well as Fortune 500 companies, offering services including incident response planning, tabletop exercises, and cybersecurity strategy development.
Protasec leadership is available for podcast appearances, interviews, and media opportunities. Recent topics they’ve spoken on include:
- Live threat simulations and crisis readiness
- Cybersecurity for SMEs and nonprofits in a digital age
- Executive buy-in and board-level security conversations
- National security, elections, and global threat landscapes
- Leadership, mentorship, and women in cybersecurity
